When Talya first started at SFU, she didn’t have a mentor. Looking back, she knows how helpful it would’ve been to have someone who had already gone through what she was about step into. That’s why she wants to support someone younger than her now, especially during those first few months that feel overwhelming. Through her experiences in AIESEC, first as an Events Coordinator and now as the Team Lead for Outgoing Exchange, and her current role as Corporate Relations Coordinator at YWiB, she’s realized how much of a difference community and connection can make. She would love to help someone meet new people, get involved, and feel like they belong. Having someone you can support and build a real connection with feels really meaningful. Even becoming friends with the people you mentor makes the whole experience more special. Also since networking is such a big part of business, she thinks this is a great way to build those habits early.
