Having been both a mentee and a mentor in the BASS Mentorship Program, Jaymar has experienced firsthand the value this initiative brings. As a mentee, he was fortunate to have an incredible mentor who supported him by answering his questions about courses, clubs, and navigating student life at Beedie. That guidance helped him feel more confident in his academic and extracurricular journey. Last year, he had the opportunity to give back as a mentor. He enjoyed sharing his experiences and helping first-year students feel more prepared and supported, just as he once was. It was incredibly rewarding to watch his mentees grow throughout the year and know he played a small part in that progress. He is excited to continue mentoring because he sees a part of himself in every first-year student he meets. This program helped shape who he is today, and he hopes to keep paying it forward by being a positive and approachable guide for the next wave of Beedie students.
