Hazel is interested in becoming a BASS Mentorship Program mentor because she’s seen firsthand how valuable peer-to-peer support can be. As someone who’s been involved in multiple areas of Beedie, from co-ops to student leadership, she wants to give back by helping first-year students feel welcomed and supported about their time at SFU Beedie. She knows how transitioning into university can be overwhelming, and she wants to be a reliable point of contact for her mentees regarding academics, club involvement, and anything else. She wants to grow as a leader by developing her soft skills on supporting her mentees with empathy, adaptability, and consistency. She’s excited about the opportunity to share what she’s learned while strengthening her communication and mentorship skills. Most importantly, she looks forward to building meaningful connections and creating a supportive and inclusive space for her mentees.
