As a transfer student from UVic, entering Beedie felt like starting over as a first-year student. What helped Harveer integrate quickly were the small moments of guidance from peers who had been through the same experience before. Many of his friends were involved in BASS as coordinators, and their one-on-one advice provided him with valuable insights into everything from course planning to networking opportunities, offering guidance that made Beedie feel familiar and eased his transition. Joining the Student Marketing Association was his first step in getting involved in the Beedie community, one that allowed him to meet like-minded people and pushed him to step out of his comfort zone. Now, he wants to take everything he’s learned throughout his journey and continue to grow as a mentor by learning to lead with empathy, build meaningful connections, and contribute to a stronger, more supportive community.
